Four clocks on one screen

The Trips tab opens with hours rings for Break, Drive, Shift and Cycle. Each arc shows the share of that limit you have left. A ring stays blue while there's time to spare, turns amber at 1 hour left and turns red at 30 minutes.

Above the rings, a status card leads with the number that matters most: how long you can drive right now. It also shows the rest that drive ends in and when your shift ends. While you're resting, the card counts down live in hours, minutes and seconds, then shows the clocks you'll have when the rest is over.

On the map, the hours pill keeps the short version in view, for example "Drive 7:30 · Shift 9:10". The shift window counts down on the wall clock, while the drive and break clocks count only while the truck is moving. Route plans use these live values, so planned breaks stay in step with your day.

While the truck is moving

Fort Route treats the truck as moving above 5 mph for 3 seconds and as parked below 2 mph for 15 seconds. While you're moving, the Trips, Money and Me tabs are locked and show "Available when you're parked".

Tap the hours pill or a locked tab and you get the in-motion card instead. It's built around one large ring, such as "7:30 DRIVING" in green, amber or red. The card also names the rest that drive ends in and shows your four clocks as bars.

Planned breaks come with spoken and on-screen reminders 30 minutes and 10 minutes of driving before the stop, and again when you arrive at it. You don't need to look at the phone to know a break is coming up.

The rest planner

When you start a 10-hour break or a 34-hour reset, record it in the rest planner with the time you went off duty, under "Off duty since". When the rest is done, the clocks reset and route plans pick up the new values. To see how breaks and resets land on an actual trip, read legal arrival times.

What it doesn't do

Fort Route is a planning aid; your ELD record of duty status is the legal record. Fort Route doesn't connect to any ELD. The clocks start from what you type in, so check them against your ELD at the start of each shift, and update them if the app wasn't open for part of a drive.

The planner follows the FMCSA rules for property-carrying drivers. For the rules themselves, read hours of service rules and the 70-hour rule and 34-hour restart.

Frequently asked questions

Does Fort Route sync with my ELD?

No, Fort Route doesn't connect to any ELD. You type your clocks in, and the app counts from there. Your ELD record of duty status is still the legal record.

What do the ring colors mean?

Ring colors show how close each clock is to its limit, with amber at 1 hour left and red at 30 minutes left. Above 1 hour, the ring is blue. The arc shows the share of the limit you have left.

When do break reminders play?

Reminders play 30 minutes and 10 minutes of driving before a planned break or rest, and again when you arrive at the planned stop. You hear them spoken and see them on screen.

Can I check my hours while driving?

Yes, tap the hours pill on the map to open the in-motion card, which shows your drive time left in one large ring. The Trips tab stays locked until the truck is parked. If you're riding as a passenger, the "I'm a passenger" option opens the tabs for that drive.
