Terms of use

The rules for using fortroute.com and the Fort Route beta app: what the beta is, what it isn't, and how to use it safely and fairly.

Last updated: November 2, 2026

These terms cover your use of fortroute.com (the "website") and the Fort Route app, including the closed beta at app.fortroute.com and any Fort Route test app (the "app"). "Fort Route", "we" and "us" mean the team that runs them. By using the website or the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.

Who can use Fort Route

You must be 18 or older to use the website's signup forms or the app. The app is built for US truck drivers and plans routes on US roads.

The beta

Fort Route is in closed beta. The app is unfinished: features may change or stop working, and some may be removed. The service may be unavailable at times, and we may end the beta. The beta is free.

Beta software is provided as is. See "Disclaimer of warranties" below.

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Fort Route without any obligation to you.

Invite codes

Invite codes are personal and exist only for the beta. Use your code for yourself. Selling, posting or passing codes to others isn't allowed, and we may deactivate a code that's misused. An invite code gives you access to the beta; it doesn't create an account or any right to future versions.

A planning aid, not a replacement for your judgment

Fort Route helps you plan. It doesn't drive the truck or make legal decisions for you.

  • You're responsible for operating your vehicle safely and legally.
  • The app doesn't replace your own judgment, posted signs, instructions from your dispatch or carrier, or your ELD record.
  • Always obey posted signs and restrictions, even when the app shows something different.
  • The app's hours-of-service clocks and break plans are a planning aid. Your ELD record of duty status is the legal record.
  • Arrival times, fuel costs and other figures in the app are estimates.
  • Set up your trip before you drive, and follow the law on phone use while driving.

Map and place data can be wrong

Fort Route uses open data and public sources, listed on our data sources page. That data can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. A truck restriction may be missing from the map, a truck stop may have closed, or a speed limit may have changed. Road-work alerts only cover areas with a feed, and camera alerts depend on mapped cameras, so no alert doesn't mean no hazard.

Treat the app's information as one input, and go by what you see on the road.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, crawl or bulk download Fort Route data, the website, the app or our APIs (including api.fortroute.com), or use them to build a competing dataset or service.
  • Reverse engineer or decompile the app or our servers, except where the law allows it despite this restriction.
  • Misuse invite codes, including selling, publishing, guessing or generating them.
  • Overload or interfere with the service, or try to get around its security or access limits.
  • Submit false reports.
  • Use Fort Route to break the law.

These limits apply to Fort Route's services. They don't limit anyone's right to get open data from its original source under that source's license.

Driver reports

During the beta, reports you make in the app, such as parking, scale status or diesel prices, are stored on your phone. In future versions, reports may be shared with other drivers.

When you submit a report, you give Fort Route permission to store, use, display and share it with other drivers, and to use it to improve Fort Route's data. Report only what you've seen yourself.

Your records

Trips, receipts, documents and logs you create in the app are yours, and most of them stay on your phone. Because the app is in beta and your data lives on your device, keep your own copies of anything you need for taxes, IFTA or your carrier.

Intellectual property and open data

The Fort Route name, logo, app, website, guides and other original content belong to Fort Route. These terms give you a personal, limited, non-transferable right to use the website and the app during the beta. Don't use the Fort Route name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you or your product. Media can use the logo as described on our press page.

Map, place, road and weather data come from open-data projects and public agencies under their own licenses, including OpenStreetMap under the Open Database License (Data © OpenStreetMap contributors). The full list, with attribution and licenses, is on our data sources page. Nothing in these terms limits the rights those licenses give you over the original data.

Other services

The app shows content from other services, including map tiles, address search results, weather alerts and live DOT camera images. We don't control those services, and their own terms apply to them.

Disclaimer of warranties

Fort Route is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises or warranties, express or implied, about the website, the app or the data they show. That includes any promise that they'll be accurate, complete, available without interruption or free of errors, and any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Fort Route isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, loads or data, arising from your use of the website or the app. This includes losses from following a route, plan or alert, such as fines, tickets, delays, missed appointments, hours-of-service violations, or damage to your truck or cargo.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim related to Fort Route is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, to use Fort Route in the 12 months before the claim.

Some states don't allow certain disclaimers or limits on liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

Termination

You can stop using Fort Route at any time. You can delete the app's data from your phone and ask us to delete your signup information, as described in our privacy policy.

We may suspend or end your access, including by deactivating an invite code, if you break these terms, if it's needed to protect the service or other drivers, or when the beta ends. Sections that by their nature should continue after access ends, including those on intellectual property, warranties and liability, will continue.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Fort Route changes. When we do, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If you keep using Fort Route after a change, the updated terms apply.
