Fort Route roadmap
What Fort Route does in the beta today and what we plan to build after it. Plans can change, and no dates are promised.
This page shows what Fort Route does in the closed beta today and what we plan to build after that. Plans can change, and we don't promise dates: items move between these lists as we learn from drivers.
Now
Everything in this section works today in the beta at app.fortroute.com, in Android and iPhone browsers. There is also an Android test app.
Routing
Fort Route plans truck-safe routes for height, width, length, weight, axles and hazmat, and takes tolls and ferries into account. You get up to 3 route options, and designated truck routes win over neighborhood streets. A trip can have up to 8 stops, each with its own on-duty time.
Hours of service
The hours-of-service planner follows the 11-hour, 14-hour and 70-hour limits and the 30-minute break rule. It places breaks, 10-hour resets and 34-hour restarts at real truck stops and rest areas, and shows your legal arrival time. Hours rings and an hours pill on the map count down from the clocks you enter, with spoken reminders before each planned stop. Fort Route is a planning aid; your ELD record is the legal record.
Navigation
Turn-by-turn navigation speaks each turn and shows lane guidance and exit signs, and reroutes don't start with a U-turn. A "what's ahead" view shows the next scale, truck stop, rest area and planned break. While the truck is moving, a safety lock keeps typed search and the planning screens closed.
Places
Fort Route has 53,582 places on the map, each checked against current sources in November 2026: truck stops, parking, rest areas, weigh stations, CAT scales, truck services, washes, dealers, Walmarts and hotels. Drivers can report parking as plenty, some or full, and scales as open or closed. For now, those reports stay on the phone that made them.
Road information
Speed limits, including truck-only limits, show on about 95% of tested routes. Road work comes live from 17 state and city DOT feeds, and you can view 12,999 live DOT traffic cameras when you're parked (images are hidden while the truck moves). The app gives spoken alerts for 1,882 speed and red-light cameras and warns you before steep downgrades. National Weather Service alerts show along your route.
Money and paperwork
The fuel plan uses EIA regional diesel averages plus prices drivers report. The load calculator shows profit per mile and per hour before you take a load, and IFTA miles are logged by state, with fuel receipts read from a photo. You also get a per diem log, a detention clock, a document scanner for BOLs, PODs and lumper receipts, and notes for shippers and receivers.
Next
These are the next items we plan to build:
- App Store and Google Play apps. Until they're out, the beta runs in your phone's browser, plus the Android test app.
- Background GPS, so navigation keeps running with the screen off. Today, keep Fort Route open on screen while you navigate.
- Shared driver reports for parking and scales, so one driver's report reaches the next driver headed that way. Today, reports stay on the phone that made them.
- A smoother invite system, with fewer steps from requesting an invite to planning your first trip.
Later
Further out, we plan to add:
- Live traffic, so arrival times reflect current road conditions.
- Live diesel prices through a licensed partner. Today, the fuel plan uses EIA regional averages and prices drivers report.
- ELD clock sync with any ELD vendor that offers an API, so you don't have to type your clocks in.
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- The app in Spanish.
- Routing in Canada.
How drivers shape the roadmap
The beta exists to test Fort Route on real loads. When drivers tell us a place is wrong, a route made no sense or a feature is missing, that feedback shapes what we fix first and can move items between these lists. To take part, join the beta.
