For company drivers who live with the clock

Your carrier picks the loads. Fort Route helps with the part you carry yourself, from the hours you have left to where you'll park tonight.

  • Arrival times that include your breaks and resets
  • Hours rings for break, drive, shift and cycle
  • Truck stops and rest areas among 53,582 checked places
Fort Route for company drivers

Your carrier sets the load, you live with the clock

Dispatch decides the load and the appointment. The rest happens in your cab: finding parking when your 14-hour window closes 40 miles short of the receiver, or working out if the break you planned still works after two hours at the shipper.

Fort Route is a planning aid built for those moments. You type in your clocks, and the app shows where your breaks and resets fall on the route you're driving. Your ELD record remains the legal record.

What helps most on a company load

Enter your clocks and the trip, including on-duty time at each stop, and Fort Route places the 30-minute break and 10-hour reset at real truck stops and rest areas. The legal arrival time includes those rests, so you can tell dispatch early when an appointment won't work. While you drive, spoken reminders come 30 and 10 minutes before each planned break or rest.

Hours rings

The hours rings show what's left on your break, drive, shift and cycle clocks, turning amber at 1 hour and red at 30 minutes. A status card above them tells you how long you can drive right now and when your shift ends. On the map, an hours pill keeps drive and shift time in view.

Truck stops, rest areas and parking

The stops along your route list shows each truck stop, rest area and parking lot with its mile marker, time away and amenities such as showers, DEF, diesel lanes and truck spaces. That lets you choose the reset spot while you still have the hours to reach it. It draws on 53,582 places checked against current sources and shows where parking exists, not whether a space is open right now.

Turn-by-turn navigation gives voice directions with lane guidance and exit signs, and reroutes start in your direction of travel rather than with a U-turn. Once the truck moves faster than 5 mph, typed search and the Trips, Money and Me tabs lock until you're parked, and "Say where to" voice search works where your phone's browser supports it. If someone else is driving, an "I'm a passenger" switch lifts the lock for that drive.

Per diem log

Since the 2018 tax year, company drivers paid on a W-2 generally can't deduct per diem on their federal return, because the deduction for unreimbursed employee expenses is no longer available. Some carriers pay a per diem allowance as part of driver pay. The per diem log still records days 50 or more miles from home from GPS and exports a CSV, and a tax professional can tell you what applies to you.

Frequently asked questions

Does Fort Route read my hours from my ELD?

No, there is no ELD sync yet, so you type your current clocks in. The hours pill and the rings count from those numbers.

Does time at the shipper count as my 30-minute break?

Yes, if you're stopped for at least 30 consecutive minutes, because since 2020 on-duty time that isn't driving counts toward the break. The trip planner treats a stop of 30 minutes or more the same way. The 30-minute break rule guide has the details.

Will Fort Route tell me if a lot is full?

No, Fort Route doesn't have real-time parking availability or predictions. It shows where truck parking exists, with space counts where they're known, and you can report a lot as plenty, some or full when you arrive.

Is Fort Route free?

Yes, Fort Route is free during the beta and for the first year after launch. Invite codes go out by email after you request one on the beta page.
